IkoLearn is a calm, procedural learning companion that keeps learning structured: a thoughtful learning harness for anyone curious, at any age. We at Ikosagon are building it so anyone can follow their curiosity and still build real foundations, and parents can also use it to plan and guide homeschool learning. It starts from what you're curious about and turns that into a clear path: topics in a sensible order, short lessons, a quick check, and cards that fill in as the learning sticks. Open IkoLearn →

It is an ongoing project, in active development. Everything shown on this page is the live app.

The IkoLearn deck as an album: subject pages with cards in a fixed trading-card shape, a merged Shark Biology card, Volcanoes cards at different tiers, and dashed outlines for topics not collected yet.

Built around the learner

There is no fixed list of topics to pick from. After a first name, IkoLearn asks one open question: what are you curious about, or what do you enjoy? You answer in your own words, for example "I've always liked sharks, and I keep wondering how volcanoes work". From that answer, IkoLearn builds the first subjects and topics. Each topic comes with an order to learn in, from foundations to harder ideas.

From there it keeps growing in the same structured way. When a branch is finished, it works out what should come next: a logical order from foundations up, steered by your interests and progress.

A cloud you can see

Your name sits at the centre of a 3D cloud. Subjects branch out from it, each in its own colour, and topics grow under them. Dotted points are topics waiting to be explored. Tap a point to bring it close, turn the cloud around it, and open its lesson.

The learning cloud on a phone: the learner at the centre, with Ocean Life, Astronomy, Music, Cooking and History as subjects and their topics branching out.

Lessons that teach, then check

Every lesson is short and has two parts. Learn explains the idea at the learner's level, with an example and one thing to try. Check yourself asks a few quick questions. Right answers, or an honest "I've got it", move the topic forward. Lessons also suggest the next steps, so the path stays clear.

A Polyps lesson: the learner's card in its holder on the left, the lesson on the right, and Where Next under the check.

Cards you earn

Topics you spend time with become cards in your deck, kept as achievements. Cards start as sepia sketches and gain ink and colour as the learning sticks: Sketch, Inked, Tinted, Achieved. When the main topics under a subject are achieved, they merge into their parent as a richer card that holds them.

The deck opens like an album, one page per subject. Each card opens its own page with its lesson, a test when it's ready, and every branch beneath it, marked covered, in progress or not started.

The Shark Biology card page: a merged card with its lesson and test, and its branches Skeleton Types, Senses and Ocean Habits marked covered.

Who it's for

  • Anyone curious, at any age, who wants to follow their curiosity and still build real foundations: a clear order to learn in, short sessions, and visible progress.
  • Parents who homeschool can also use it as a planning and teaching tool: map out a subject, prepare short lessons and checks to work through together, and see what's covered and what comes next. The cloud and the album show that at a glance, and a quiet page for parents & teachers sums it up.

How it works today

  • Lessons and new topics are written by an AI model through our own small server routes. The key stays on our server, and replies can be wrong, so check anything important against a trusted source.
  • Your name, cloud, cards and lessons are kept in the browser on your device. No account is needed, and we don't store any of it.
  • The app keeps its calls small: browsing the cloud, the album and the cards costs nothing.
  • Learning for yourself, or guiding others: the first question is a single tap. A guide adds learners by first name (no accounts), each with their own cloud, Deck and progress, and switches between them with one tap.
  • For parents & teachers: a calm, read-only page, linked from the app, shows each subject's progress, recent lessons, cards earned, tests passed and what IkoLearn would offer next, with a summary to copy or print. It reads the same storage on the device and makes no calls.

Roadmap

  • Parent & instructor dashboard (first version in place): the read-only page above. Next: planning tools for parents who homeschool and for instructors, to prepare what comes next ahead of time.
  • Several paths and devices: separate learning paths side by side, and a way to carry a cloud between devices.
  • Deeper paths: longer structured sequences per subject, and more ways to check learning.

We're also preparing a Kickstarter to fund the next stage of development. Nothing to back yet; we'll share it here when it's ready.
